Located in the heart of Merrick, NY, Souper Fry is a vibrant fast food restaurant that reinvents casual dining with its inventive menu and welcoming atmosphere. This local gem offers a diverse selection of flavorful dishes that blend classic comfort food with fresh, creative twists—perfect for those looking for a quick bite without sacrificing taste or quality.
One cannot talk about Souper Fry without mentioning its standout wraps and paninis. The Wrapini lineup is especially noteworthy: “The Judge” features tender braised short ribs paired with sweet and sour onion relish, melted Muenster cheese, fresh baby spinach, all elevated with a luscious garlic aioli sauce. Priced at $13.99, it’s a rich and satisfying choice that leaves a memorable impression with every bite. Another fan favorite, the “Sazini,” combines juicy chicken cutlets with mozzarella, crispy bacon, and the uniquely flavorful Roscoe dressing, creating a harmony of textures and tastes. For those craving something lighter yet indulgent, the “ExWifey” wrap boasts grilled chicken with sweet peppers, sour slaw, crispy wontons, and a punchy Thai peanut dressing that awakens the palate.
For vegetarians or anyone looking to indulge in garden-fresh goodness, “The Benny-Boo” wrap brings a vibrant medley of roasted red pepper, cauliflower, and zucchini, all wrapped in a warm, satisfying embrace. The inclusion of roasted garlic aioli adds a creamy, slightly smoky note that elevates the vegetables beautifully.
Accompanying these hearty wraps are perfectly crisp fries available in various styles—original, cajun-spiced, or sweet potato—each served with house-made dipping sauces that range from spicy and tangy remoulades to cooling aiolis. The fries have quickly become a local craving, with “Large Original Fries with two sauces for $7” frequently highlighted by returning customers, such as John Kane, who calls the fries with Nawlinz remoulade his “new vice.”
Souper Fry also caters to the pub grub lovers with an array of classic treats including juicy hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and the indulgently named “Dude, Where’s My Cheesesteak?”—a hearty sandwich filled with American cheese, onions, and peppers. Chicken wings ordered by the dozen and a crispy fried shrimp basket offer great options for sharing or making any meal feel like a special occasion.
Stepping inside, the energy of Souper Fry is palpable. The walls are adorned with unique art that, while unexpected in a fast food setting, adds character and charm to the eatery. I like the energy in there. Staff is attentive but keep the line moving. Food is great. Fries in nawlinz remoulade is my new vice. Sazini is a tightly packaged little dreamy
Souper fry is excellent ! I’ve been here quite a few times eating there and for take out. Never a disappointment. I usually get the Sizini with french fries but I’ve tried their soups and other items on the menu and they are all great. Also, try their sauces ! The owner is great he’s very friendly and i’ve never came across an employee that doesn’t seem to enjoy being there. Highly recommend
Looking for for a buffalo chicken fix? The miniwaska is the way to go!
Not the prettiest place when you walk in. Thought I appreciated the unique art on the walls. BUT a seriously delicious and delightful menu. I can’t believe how out of this world their sandwiches were and specifically their own home made recipe sauces. Sandwiches are very hearty and not expensive. Totally under the radar one of the best sandwich places in Long Island. oh and I wanted to add and very important. It was closing hours for restaurants in the area and as I walked in this location was closing down, but the staff went over and above to make me dinner. That is so important I really wish for the owner to know this. The staff definitely went over and above for me. I was sent away by the other two locations right next to it FYI.
This was my first time coming here since they reopened. Came here a few times over ten years ago but there wasn't many options for vegetarians except the quesadilla. Pleasantly surprised to see they have a vegetarian wrap now with garlic aoili and feta which was amazing. My partner got the Sazini which he said was delicious (and many friends who have accompanied me have agreed). I only took one star off since it was strangely quiet on a Sunday afternoon but they did turn on the music halfway through our visit, although it was so low it was difficult to hear. Staff was quick to assist and everything was clean. Highly recommend.
Amazing soups, good sandwiches. I prefer the creamy soups. Please note the mid-afternoon break/close each day
Yummy! Souper Fry has lots of delishes different paninis to try! But my overall favorite is their quesadillas! They give you a hefty side of sour cream and guacamole (for FREE!) included with all their special quesadillas and it’s a great deal. The food is tasty - my go to is the “Grundilla” which comes with steak and peppers etc. Today I tried the “Herbadilla” which I thought was a strange combination of pulled pork, crumble blue cheese, sliced granny apples etc but it was YUMMY! 5/5 stars great place for lunch in the area :))
Glad to have them back. Great pickup joint for unique sandwiches (wrapinis), tasty soups, and fantastic fries for a fair price, among other things. It's all about the sauce. Gotta love all those options. From the basic to the way out there, I've yet to try one that wasn't delicious. Elevates everything on the menu.
